The CEO of Konnech, a US election software company, Eugene Yu, was arrested after investigators found that the servers of the People's Republic of China contained information about US poll workers. The company had added an "election misinformation advisory" to its website a few weeks prior to combat the "false and malicious claims" being made about the company, blaming "ignorance, racism, and xenophobia" for the allegations. Konnech filed a defamation lawsuit against a Texas-based non-profit election integrity organization, TrueTheVote. Yu established Konnech's research and development subsidiary, Jinhua Yulian Network Technology in Zhejiang, China in 2005. Yulian Network, Konnech's subsidiary, has bid on government contracts to provide electronic voting systems to China's National People's Congress.
